Juicing and weight loss

Increase energy, vitality, and shed a few pounds at the same time

I did a juice cleanse in May.  I started juicing on Sunday, 13th May, preceeded by a colonic hydrotherapy treatment.

My breakfast juices consisted mainly of carrots, apples, ginger and lemon.  Somtimes I just juiced a gaia or honeydew melon, with a little ginger in it. Sometimes I get recipes from thesinfulvegan.com which I find amazing because as a vegan, recipes like this can prove that even at my lifestyle, I can still enjoy delicious foods.

I didn’t bother peeling the fruits and vegetables.  I just washed them, chopped them and juiced them.  I always add ginger to my juices because I love ginger and it’s great for supporting the digestive system.  I also like to add freshly squeezed lemon juice as it’s great for cleansing the liver and the bile ducts. A pinch of chilli powder livens things up too, and is great for increasing circulation to the lining of the digestive tract, helping to reduce any inflammation. I also add a teaspoon of superfood powder to the juices for protein. You may also consider using vegan-based proteins.  The superfood powder contains many of the seagreens, including chlorella and spirulina, but wheatgrass too.

I  drank lots of water; at least 2 litres minimum every day, and drank lots of Matcha green tea by TeaPigs.

My lunch juices were usually a combination of carrott, apple, pear, spinach, beetroot, fennel, celery  ginger. Not all at once of course. Some fresh english mint gave the juices a delicious minty fresh flavour.

I’ve had  my Dualit juicer for 3 years now and it’s perfect for me.  It cost me less than £100 from John Lewis; it has a strong motor and is easy to clean.  You don’t have to re-mortgage your house to get a good juicer nowadays.

You don’t feel hungry on a juice cleanse because you are getting so many ‘live’ nutrients, so you are satisfied quite easily.  When we cook food, we destroy almost all of the ‘live’ enzymes.

You body is also energised because you are , more or less, completely resting the digestive system, and this enables the body to rejuvenate and repair.  When juicing, the digestive system doesn’t require as much blood to process the food (particularly carbohydrates and animal protein that create fermentation and putrefaction) and so you don’t feel as tired.  The blood and nutrients can be transported and utilised to other systems/organs of the body that perhaps require a little extra support.

I read Ikaria lean belly juice reviews consumer reports and did the Cleanse for two weeks, resulting in a 10lb weight loss.

I didn’t feel tired, I had loads of energy, and my skin still looks great.
