The toilet, the loo, the water closet, the lav, the karzi, the bog, the latrine, the wc, the lavatory, the privy, the crapper, the thunder-box, the latrine

It’s all in a name!

I thought I’d upload a couple of pictures of my Clinic toilet. However, the pictures do not do it justice.  A visit, in person, is a must.

A snapshot of the toilet at my Clinic. Can you see the 'health step' on the floor?
The Clinic Loo, complete with a ‘stool for a stool’, nicely tucked away.

I get so many comments about the toilet, and if I had £5 for every compliment, I would be able to retire from colonics. Well, not quite, but I do get a lot of compliments about the Clinic loo, ranging from “That’s the most interesting toilet I’ve ever been in” to “I could spend hours in your toilet and never get bored” and “Your toilet is absolutely fascinating. So full of interesting things to look at and read”.

The toilet is full of interesting stuff to see and read.

Not only is it spotlessly clean, if I do say so myself, but it also has some very interesting reading material, the majority of which is about health, the digestive system and the bowels.  Well, it would be wouldn’t it!

I also have an antique brass Victorian enema kit once used by quite a well to do Doctor.  In those days, when Doctors did home visits, every patient had an enema to help clear out the rectum.  The Victorians were convinced that ill health began if the bowel was toxic. Not much has changed.  Many Naturopaths still believe that a poorly functioning bowel that is potentially ‘leaking’ toxins into the general circulation can cause the blood to become ‘dirty’.  I don’t need to spell out how this may impact a person’s health.  Think about what the blood does.  It feeds and nourishes every cell in the body, and also transports waste products out of the cells/organs. If the blood is already choked up and dirty from a leaky bowel, what chance does it have in ensuring our cells and organs are kept healthy.

As you can see from the picture of the toilet itself, there is a ‘health step’ on the floor.  It is very important to get your feet up at least 6″ off the floor when having a bowel movement, and lean forward, with your hands resting on your thighs, and your back straight.  This will help open up the sphincters and enable material to pass through the digestive system.  This position will also help release the poo from the rectum.  These steps cost approx £50.  They are made in the States, but are available to buy in the UK from Practitioner Supplies on 01254 662585.

Alternatively, use your imagination and improvise with a step or stool.  If you still feel that the rectum hasn’t completely cleared, then bend your right knee and pull your leg up into the right side of your lower abdomen.  This will put a little pressure on the cecum and ascending bowel, and can have the action similar to squeezing toothpaste from the bottom of the tube, and help push material up, along, down and out of the bowel.

I provide lovely soaps and hand lotion.  I have a bit of a thing about soap.  It all goes back to my childhood when all we ever had in the bathroom was the boring green Fairy Toilet Soap.  At the moment I have Kath Kidston’s Roses.  The smell is divine.  If it’s not Kath Kidston soap and moisturiser, it’s usually Molton Brown or something from Neal’s Yard. There’s also a good range of organic and/or natural personal care products, and lots and lots of toilet paper!

I don’t like towels for drying hands.  Not hygienic enough for me.  I provide white paper towels that can be disposed of in the bin.

A toilet that, perhaps, you would not want to use!
