One for the Ladies

Ladies of menstruating age should be aware of this …

I don’t suppose many of you think about what tampons and sanitary towels you use when you are on your period? Did you know that the majority of them are made using unnecessary chemicals and bleach that may affect the delicate ph of the vagina. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want any part of my body coming into contact with any kind of chemical or bleach, especially the more ‘delicate’ parts of the body.

Women who have recurring Candida, (thrush) infections and Lichen Sclerosis (Google it) should only be using natural cotton,  organic, unbleached tampons and sanitary towels. I would go as far as to say, that they only use the sanitary towels, not the tampons, regardless of whether they’re organic cotton or not. The risk of infection is too high.

Not only can the bleached tampons affect the ph of the vagina, but the chemicals will further add to the ‘toxic’ load that the body is already under. We need to be trying to reduce this toxic load, not increasing it.

Furthermore, it is extremely important to change tampons regularly to avoid ‘Toxic Shock Syndrome’ (TSS). Over half the cases of TSS are women who use tampons. TSS is caused by harmful substances released by Staph and Streph strains of bacteria. BUPA UK have some interesting information on Toxic Shock Syndrome here:
