Peanuts and breast cancer

New Study linking daily consumption of peanut butter can reduce benign breast disease by a whopping 68%

I hope you are one of the lucky ladies who have made it so far without having come up against this dreadful disease.

peanut butterIt must be absolutely terrifying to be faced with such a diagnosis, followed by body-changing surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. There’s been a recent study published in the journal, Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, where researchers in America (Barnes-Jewish Hospital & Washington University School of Medicine) have said that a daily dose of peanut butter in your growing years may protect you against a deadly breast cancer diagnosis.

The researchers followed 9,000 girls between the ages of 9 and 15 for fourteen years, charging eating habits and checking to see if these young ladies developed benign breast disease (BBD). BBD can be a pre-cursor to breast cancer.

The girls who ate peanut butter every day during pre-teen and teenage years had a 68% lower risk of developing BBD. The girls that ate peanut butter just three times a week, saw their risk slashed by 39%.

Natural peanut butter is a nutritional powerhouse, and is packed with protein, polyphenols, magnesium, vitamin E and much more. Ladies, give it to your daughters and grand-daughters. You may be adding years to their life.

Steer clear of the over-processed peanut butters that may be loaded with sugar, corn syrup, food dyes and preservatives. Ensure you get all natural, preservative-free peanut butter.  It’s the type where the oil floats to the top.
