It’s not natural is it?

I would travel a 1,000 miles for colonic irrigation treatment!

I had an interesting conversation with a woman last week regarding colon hydrotherapy.  I was helping to man the ARCH Stand at The Health & Wellbeing at Work Exhibition at the NEC.  This woman said to me “sell the concept of colon hydrotherapy to me, because to me it’s just not natural having a tube pushed up your bum and water washed around your bowel”.

This was my reply “Due to lack of awareness about bowel health and hygiene, diet and lifestyle, people develop bowel infections and may develop bowel cancer.  I personally don’t think it’s natural for people to have parts of their bowel cut away, their bum hole sewn up and a colostomy bag fitted for the rest of their natural life.  A bag that they have to empty several times a day, or run the risk of it leaking.  SILENCE

If I needed a colonic irrigation treatment, I would travel a 1,000 miles for one.  Rather that than life-changing surgery!

We then had a very interesting conversation for about an hour, when she explained to me how worried she was about her 20 year old son who had been having bowel problems for over 10 years.  I was able to re-assure her about some misconceptions and misunderstanding regarding colon hydrotherapy, and when she left, she was going to contact her son in London, and advise him to go and see an ARCH registered colon hydrotherapist in London.  I truly hope she does, because I’m afraid the medics had not been able to help him these past 10 years, and his bowel condition was getting progressively worse.
