Let’s talk about poo!

Let’s talk about poo!

I’D LIKE TO HAVE COLONIC IRRIGATION, BUT I’M EMBARRASSED AND SCARED ……

In the privacy of your home or office, you’ve probably read up on the internet about colonic irrigation, or a friend has whispered it to you.

You might feel that poo is not a subject for discussion in polite society. I would completely disagree with this. It’s our ‘anal’ attitude towards the discussion of our bowel habits that’s contributing to the increase in *organic and functional bowel disease.  However, that’s an article for another day.

Perhaps you’ve suffered with IBS, bloating, constipation, excessive flatulence for years, but been afraid or embarrassed to consult a colonic hydrotherapist, even though you’ve read all about the positives the treatment offers.

Decrease in bloating

Less smelly flatulence

More regular bowel movements

 Less stomach ache

Improved skin

Weight loss benefits

It’s obvious that when you got to see a colon hydrotherapist, the subject of poo is going to come up. When you come to see me, I will mention this word quite a lot, along with other bodily fluids. Remember that I’m talking about poo all day long. It’s what I do for a living, so it’s unlikely you will say something that’s going to make me feel uncomfortable. You don’t have to use fancy, technical words to explain your symptoms. Use terms and words that are easy for you.

There’s a fairly detailed health questionnaire to complete, and some of the questions I ask, you may think have nothing to do with your bowels, or your IBS, or your constipation, or indigestion.  However, I can assure you that every question asked on the Health Questionnaire is there to enable me to arrive at a correct diagnosis and treatment plan.

I will also examine your intestines externally using specific massage techniques, prior to your colonic treatment, checking not just the intestines, but the stomach, spleen, liver and gall bladder, as well as giving manual abdominal massage throughout the colonic treatment to improve blood circulation to the intestines.

So please don’t be embarrassed talking to me about your bowel habits.  I can assure you that I’ve heard it all, and seen it all before. I’ve carried out over 8,000 colonic treatments, and been in full-time clinical practice for over 23 years, so there’s not much I haven’t seen.

* bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer after lung cancer, and comes under the classification of ‘organic’ bowel disease, together with coeliac disease, ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease.  IBS is classified as a ‘functional’ bowel disease, together with constipation, diarrhoea and bloating.
